Scrivener! Ooooh, Wow!

scrivener logoI love Scrivener. Honestly, I do. I have had Scrivener for almost two years now (Two years in October to be exact. Well, not really exact because I don’t know the exact date. Exact.) aaaand I don’t know how I survived without it. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration. Anyway, some of you may be asking, what is Scrivener?

Scrivener is a word processor on steroids. (cliche alert!) Instead of all of your writing being in one continuous uncategorized document. Or in multiple documents that get confusing when you have more then one or two open. Scrivener has all of those separate documents in one document except they are still separate, but together. Gooood description, Leetah… Anyway, you have your main ‘draft’ or ‘manuscript’ folder and then folders within that for chapters and then text documents for scenes. You can even make a text document be a folder and hold subscenes. Subscenes? Sure why not.

And on top of all this folder craziness, there is also a folder for your research. Now you can keep it all together within one document so you don’t have to spend hours searching for that one bit of information that you cannot remember where you saved it. And you can view your research at the same time as the document you are working on with the split screen function. Freaking awesome.

There are so many functions that Scrivener offers. And I honestly don’t even use them all, but that is another great thing about it. You don’t have to use every function. You can pick and choose the ones that work for you. For example, I love the ‘Project Targets’ pop up that I keep open at all times to check out my progress toward both my total word count goal and my session word count goal. Others may haaaate seeing how many words they still have left to go. But I hate not knowing!

I even use Scrivener for my website content. I am typing in it right now! I have year/month folders and within those I have my blog posts. I also have a ‘not yet posted’ folder for posts I have gotten ahead on. Or that I have just scribbled down an idea for. I just realized that I have not taken advantage of the research folder for my website content Scrivener document. How silly of me. Note to self: USE THE RESEARCH FOLDER.

I truly believe that Scrivener is an indispensable tool for writers.

What writing tools do you use that you couldn’t imagine writing without?

Welcome to My New Website!

I’ve spend the last few days being super excited to get this website up and running, and have anyone and everyone see it’s magnificence! Seriously, I love it. LOVE. IT.

WordPress is great. And so is this theme. So customizable and easy to use. Can you tell I am thrilled?

The only thing I am sad about with the switch from my old website to my new website, is that I had to manually move over all the blog posts from the old site. This means that I lost all the wonderful comments that I had accumulated on my posts. Boooooo! 🙁

But, that is minor in comparison to the all new features of the site. My progress bars are so much prettier, and I (finally) have a Mailing List sign up. And those cool little circles beside (or above on tablets and smartphones) this post are just excellent.

Okay, enough of me praising my own site. Make sure to look around and form your own opinion! 😛

Let me know in the comments what you think…

New Website in the Works!

Okay, it isn’t really in the works yet… My husband and I have really just been talking about it and brainstorming. Buuuut, I hope to have a new website all ready to go in at most a month’s time.

I really want to switch to a WordPress based site rather than using Drupal for my backend because I feel like most writers use WordPress. Good reasoning, I think. Plus, it would allow for a better commenting system then what I have currently.

I also want to update the look of my site as I feel that my current look is rather boring. I like it’s simplicity but I want something fun. (I almost wrote funner… No. Just no.)

Sooooooooooo… If anyone has any awesome WordPress plugins that they think I would like and that would make my site just so wicked, please leave me a comment below or tweet me on Twitter!
